What is an Anabaptist Christian?

1. Jesus is the centre of our faith

Christians, from an Anabaptist perspective, are a believing people who seek to: 

  1. Follow Jesus in daily life.
  2. Interpret the Scriptures in the Spirit of Jesus.
  3. Promise their highest loyalty to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
The lamb in the midst of briars is a traditional Anabaptist symbol. It illustrrate the suffering Lamb of God.

2. Community is the center of our lives.

Christians, from an Anabaptist perspective, experience Christ-centred community as the centre of their life. They tend to see: 

  1. Forgiveness is essential for community.
  2. Dialogue and group discernment are necessary for interpreting Scripture.
  3. Small face-to-face groups as central to the life of the church.

3. Reconciliation is the center of our work.

Christians, from an Anabaptist perspective, believe they are called to  

  1. Help reconcile people to God
  2. Help reconcile people to each other
  3. Serve as God's ambassadors of reconciliation in the world.
