Welcome to Brussels Mennonite Fellowship
Brussels Mennonite Fellowship
is a community of believers learning to follow Jesus.
Guided by the Holy Spirit,
we live to tell and show others
the good news of God's love and forgiveness.
We celebrate our renewed identity
as a new creation in Christ
through worship, fellowship, mission, and prayer.
Our history
The Brussels Mennonite Fellowship grew out of the dreams and hard work of certain members of the Listowel Mennonite Church who wanted to plant a church in Brussels. By the fall of 1979, planning began in earnest. Brian Laverty, pastor at Listowel, helped to coordinate these early meetings. Pastor Laverty led the first church service in Brussels in January 1980. Five families made up this early congregation: Elwin and Linda Garland, Howard and Alice Martin and family, John and Mary Baan and family, Lorne and Marion Wideman, and Ross and Anne Hemingway and family.
The Mission of BMF
Our church exists to grow in the teachings of Jesus,
to live by his example, and to connect people to him through genuine faith, community, and service.
Grow:
- in our understanding of the Word
- in our personal and corporate worship of God
- in the experience of meaningful prayer
Live:
- in a lifestyle of worship of our Lord and Saviour.
- in service to those at home, to those one another at BMF and to the people of the Brussels area community
- in support of the work of God throughout the world.
Connect:
- people to the life changing relationship with Jesus Christ
- people to one another in relationship and fellowship.
